30 Days of Thankfulness-Day 14

“Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.”

1 Thessalonians 5: 16-18. KJV.

How do you rejoice when you are sad? How do you give thanks for everything? What difference does this make in one’s life? Lastly, when one does these things, the verse says it is the will of Christ Jesus for you.

¹⁶ Rejoice always, ¹⁷ pray without ceasing, ¹⁸ in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.

Rejoice

Often I say, “This is the day the Lord has made; I will rejoice and be glad.” Psalm 118:24.  Some days this is more difficult than others. Marking my life is chronic pain, and many of you know my motto of putting one foot in front of the other. Beloved, I do not rejoice in the pain; I rejoice in the victory over the pain. The above verse says to rejoice always. What might God be asking you to rejoice today? Blessings rock our world; our spiritual gifts are numerous such as eternal life and forgiveness of sins. What circumstance are you encountering? Will you give it to Jesus and rejoice?

Pray

Pray or prayer is in the Bible 394 times. Pray without ceasing. Did you know that Jesus and the Holy Spirit pray for you and that the Holy Spirit prays for you when you do not know how to pray for you? So often, we utter words of desperation and ask why God hears. If we never say amen to the end of our prayers and keep our conversation open to God, we pray without ceasing.

Thanking God is essential in inviting God into our circumstances. Every good and perfect gift is from God.

Father God, thank you for loving us and for your kindness. Thank you that your will for us is to rejoice and be glad in Jesus’s name. Amen
