30 Days of Thankfulness – Day 16
Oh come, let us sing to the Lord! Let us shout joyfully to the Rock of our salvation.
Let us come before His presence with thanksgiving; Let us shout joyfully to Him with psalms. Psalm 95: 1-2. KJV.
How do you begin your prayers with the Lord? Praying is simply talking to God, yet it is perhaps the most challenging thing we do. Sometimes, I am guilty of bringing a laundry list of things before the Lord. Sometimes, I am in a hurry, and I rattle through my list with the words, bless my family and friends. Yet in this verse of Psalm 95, verse two, we are to come into His presence with thanksgiving.
Many years ago, while in leadership, praising God was how we started our prayers. Bantering off one another, the praise for God would echo off each leader. Then we would have a time of thanksgiving. Do you include in your prayers praise and thanksgiving?
Time in prayer–is it reflective of the joy that is in your relationship with God? When we accept Jesus as our savior, joy is the by-product of having our sins forgiven.
Time in prayer–is it reflective of the hope that is in your relationship with God? When we turn to God, hope is the by-product of having a relationship with God.
Time in prayer–is it reflective of the love that is evident in your life? When we rely on God, love is the by-product of having a relationship with Jesus and the Holy Spirit.
Joy, hope, love, as you know, the greatest of these is love. You are loved with everlasting love. Read 1 Corinthians 13, a chapter in the Bible on love. We find this verse at the end of the chapter, “And now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love.”
Lastly, the fruit of the Spirit is found in Galatians.
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law. Galations 5: 22-23. KJV.
Father God, we praise you and thank you. You are God. Therefore, let us enter His courts with praise. In Jesus’s name, amen.
Which verse are you choosing to write? Which fruit of the Spirit do you want to demonstrate this week? What are you thanking God for?
