30 Days of Thankfulness-Day 8

30 Days of Thankfulness-Day 8

Is anyone among you suffering? Let him pray. Is anyone cheerful? Let him sing psalms. James 5:13.

Are you struggling today? Perhaps, you are in pain and are suffering? Pain is often physical and emotional. We can struggle with worry and anxiety. Sometimes we struggle with sadness or just a lack of joy. Perhaps, you may even be grieving? Grief can be like a roller coaster with valleys and turns, and you want to get off the ride.

What does all of this have to do with thankfulness? Quite honestly, sometimes it is hard to be thankful. Sometimes it is hard to be grateful when tears are streaming down your face.

King David shared some of the most beautiful thoughts in the Psalms that he wrote. Beloved, much of the time he feared for his life, his childhood was marred. David sinned in a mid-life crisis. Yet, he is a man after God’s own heart. Beloved, God forgives us our sins when we make poor choices. We can’t do anything to make God love us more. God loves us.

The flip coin of being sad is being cheerful. Daily, we can choose to be happy.

In what ways do you counteract the blues?

Beloved, giving thanks will foster good feelings. Saying thank you to others facilitates goodwill. So why not say thank you to God? When I write my prayers, I always end my prayers with a thankful note.

Today, let’s be thankful for the people in our lives, past or present, that allow us to feel.

Father God, often I struggle with feelings of sadness, and yet I want to feel happiness. So let me trust you with my struggles. I love you, Lord, and I am thankful for my family, friends, and blessings.

Write the above verse and share what you are thankful for?
