March brings spring and spring brings cleaning — Spring cleaning. For some, curtains come down, cabinets are cleaned, the contents in the cabinets are scrubbed. Today’s list is about the ways in which we can cleanse for Spring. I do not clean my house because I work forty to fifty hours a week. So my friend Barbie suggested I share about how to clean our hearts in preparation for this coming Easter season.
Lent is a season celebrated for forty days prior to Easter. Some give up meat, some choose what they will give up. I read a booklet on our heart being Christ’s home.
Here is a quick heart-cleaning survey:
Living Room – What are you watching on television? Whom are you entertaining in your living room? Is Jesus waiting for you for morning devotions?
Bed Room – Are you having your evening devotions? prayers? What is on your end table to read?
Den – What music are you listening to? What books are you reading? What thoughts are you thinking? Bring every thought captive to the Lord.
Kitchen -What is lurking in the cabinets that trigger you to crash and burn from your diet? This was a difficult area for me for over twenty-five years.
Confession– Lord I renounce the worldly music I have listened to and the books I have read that are counterfeit to true Christianity.
Cleanse the Rooms of Your Hearts at this special time of the year. Can you see Jesus’ eyes peering into the rooms of your heart? What will he see?
Prayer– Lord I want a clean heart, a joyful heart, a willing heart.
Action – Clean out the corrupt, keep the good, make a prayer closet.
