Introduction
What are you facing? Do you struggle with illness? Do you struggle in your marriage? Are you struggling with weight loss? Are you struggling to juggle your job and your home life?
The Psalmist declares his dependence on God and God’s word. Read with me Psalm 119: 137-144.
Scripture
Righteous art thou, O Lord, and upright are thy judgments.
138 Thy testimonies that thou hast commanded are righteous and very faithful.
139 My zeal hath consumed me, because mine enemies have forgotten thy words.
140 Thy word is very pure: therefore thy servant loveth it.
141 I am small and despised: yet do not I forget thy precepts.
142 Thy righteousness is an everlasting righteousness, and thy law is the truth.
143 Trouble and anguish have taken hold on me: yet thy commandments are my delights.
144 The righteousness of thy testimonies is everlasting: give me understanding, and I shall live.
My Thoughts
What consumes you? Are you struggling with perfectionism? How about procrastination? What does it look like for zeal to consume oneself?
Have you ever felt like the Psalmist, that you are small and perhaps you feel insignificant?
God is the one true friend. He will never let you down. He is the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow.
God’s Word is true and can be trusted. God’s Word needs to be delighted in, read, meditated, and memorized. Can you say that God’s commandments are your delight?
What does that look like? One needs to read and meditate on God’s Word daily. For example, LoveGodGreatly.com is studying Micah. They follow the SOAP method, S-write out Scripture, O-Observation, A-Application, and P-write a prayer. Try this with a verse.
S- The righteousness of thy testimonies is everlasting: give me understanding, and I shall live.
O- God’s word is everlasting, God gives us an understanding of the Word of God.
A- What time do you read God’s Word daily? Is God’s Word important to you?
P- Father God, Your word is true, and it can be trusted. It stands the test of time. Because of Your Word, I have life, life eternal because of Jesus Christ who is the Word. Help me love being in Your Word. In Jesus’ name, Amen
Conclusion
What is God asking you to do in response to Psalm 119: 137-144?
Beloved, you are loved.
