The Wait is Worth It.

What are you waiting for? We are currently building a small home and the wait seems forever, we have encountered waiting because of the bad weather. Perhaps you are waiting on a prayer to be answered or your marriage to improve or a prodigal son or daughter to contact you or return home, or for your health to improve. The wait can be hard and can add to the feeling of being weary. Are you weary in the wait?

Wait

Scripture

Wait is in the Bible 154 times. Twenty-eight times in the Psalms. I’ve been waiting on the Lord many times in my life.

Psalm 25

Read with me this Psalm 25

Lead me in thy truth, and teach me: for thou art the God of my salvation; on thee do I wait all the day. Psalm 25:

Read this verse in Psalm 27

Wait on the Lord: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the Lord. Psalm 27: 14.

Thoughts

We can learn much from the Psalmist on waiting. First he prayed to God during the wait. We can give our cares to the Lord as Peter declares in 1 Peter 5

Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you. 1 Peter 5: 7.

Next he places his trust in God during this time. Beloved, do you trust God with your prayer needs?

It is no secret that I’ve struggled with health issues most of my adult life. I’ve questioned God with these concerns and yet the answer is God’s grace is sufficient to meet my needs.

It is no secret that I’ve struggled with times of being lonely, yet as I wait on the Lord to answer my prayers, I stay in commune with Him. I read His word, I study His word and yes I pray.

Make this your prayer from this beautiful Psalm,

Shew me thy ways, O Lord; teach me thy paths. Psalm 25: 4.

Conclusion

I am up early this morning looking to God for patience while I wait on our home to be complete. Someday, most likely in 2020, I will be writing from this home that God is giving us.

What will I do in the waiting time? I will continue to pursue God by relying on Him, praying to Him, and reading His Word.

Father God, thank you for times of waiting because we learn You are Good and You are God and You are with us in the wait. For the person who is waiting for health to return or the prodigal to return, God please be with them and give them courage and refreshment. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Describe a time you waited on God.
