Introduction
What motto do you have? Perhaps the one I utilize the most, “keep putting one foot in front of the other.” When I struggled in my marriage, I kept putting one foot in front of the other. When I struggled with parenting, I kept putting one foot in front of the other. When I struggled with working, I kept putting one foot in front of the other. When I struggled with retiring, I kept putting one foot in front of the other. When I struggle with my health and as I struggle with waiting, I keep putting one foot in front of the other.
My salvation comes from trusting God with the unknown. My prayer is to stay in the boat, to fix my eyes on Jesus. Not to jump into the murky waters where my thoughts run amuck.
Scripture
42 So shall I have wherewith to answer him that reproacheth me: for I trust in thy word.
43 And take not the word of truth utterly out of my mouth; for I have hoped in thy judgments.
44 So shall I keep thy law continually for ever and ever.
45 And I will walk at liberty: for I seek thy precepts.
46 I will speak of thy testimonies also before kings, and will not be ashamed.
47 And I will delight myself in thy commandments, which I have loved.
48 My hands also will I lift up unto thy commandments, which I have loved; and I will meditate in thy statutes.
49 Remember the word unto thy servant, upon which thou hast caused me to hope.
50 This is my comfort in my affliction: for thy word hath quickened me. (KJV)
Hence,
God’s word means everything to me. We see how important God’s word is in this Psalm. In these verses, we see words trust, hope, keep, walk, seek, speak, delight, meditate, and comfort. All of these words are action words.
Beloved, what prevents you from reading God’s word? What is preventing you from trusting God?
Will you hope in the Word of God? Will you walk and talk in the hope of Jesus. We read about this hope in Romans.
13 Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost. Romans 15:13 (KJV)
Father God, my hope is in You and Your Word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path. I receive comfort as I read your word. Help me, sweet Jesus, to put one foot in front of the other as I trust in You. I pray for those struggling today that they may trust You in their marriage, their finances, and the lives of their families. I pray for the one who needs to accept You as their good, good father.
Will you spend time with the Lord today? Will you keep putting one foot in front of the other in victory? Will you obey God’s word today? Will you confess your hopes, dreams, and sin to God? How can I pray for you today?
