Beloved, I’ve shared that we have quite the wild life of animals where we live, today’s reading in Genesis 8 reminded me of a visitor we had for four weeks. She was a dove and she decided to stay in our car port. She thought my husband’s truck was her own special perch. But one day she flew away and did not come back.
In our scripture meme the verses from Psalm 139 ask the question of God, “Where can I go from Your Spirit? Where can I hide from Your presence? God is everywhere.
Our word is presence. The definition of presence is the state or fact of existing, occurring, or being present in a place or thing. Presence is in the Bible 303 times. We read it when Cain was banned from the Lord’s presence.
Then Cain went out from the Lord’s presence and lived in the land of Nod, east of Eden. Gen 4:16
God remembers Noah in the boat and the waters resend and Noah sends out the first dove and then the second dove. When they come out of the ark. their is a rainbow in the sky. This is a covenant rainbow to be a sign that God will never destroy the world again with a flood.
In Genesis 9 we see it doesn’t take long for sin to enter the world after it was newly cleansed. Sin is pervasive. However we have the Holy Spirit inside of us and we do not have to sin. Daily we can make good choices.
What roles does the covenant play in Genesis 9?
Our reading tomorrow is Genesis 10-11.
Father God, thank you for the rainbow and the covenant that you will never destroy us with a flood again. Thank you for your love. In Jesus’s name, Amen.

January 6, 2024 at 6:09 amDiana, I’m loving these blog posts. When I was doing the reading, I was thinking about how blessed Noah and his family were in so many ways, but also they saw the very first rainbow, the actual covenant of God! I just imagine it was so much brighter and more beautiful and vibrant than any rainbow we have ever seen!! God is so good! 🌈❤️
