Five-Minute Friday- a time to write for five minutes on one word and then connect with other writers and share.
The word is Anniversary.
In July, my husband and I celebrated forty-eight years of marriage. Marriage designed by God. The first marriage between Adam and Eve living in the Garden of Eden. Adam created by God experienced total love from God but God knew he needed a companion. So he caused a deep sleep and removed a rib from Adam fashioning Eve. Adam named her woman.
They were accepted by God, significant, and secure. They walked in the cool of the evening talking to God and did not realize they were naked. Beauty was in the garden of Eden and so was the tree of knowledge of good and evil. God told Adam and Eve they could eat from every tree except this tree. We read about Satan, appears as a snake, entering the idyllic scene and Eve begins to question God.
We know that Adam and Eve died spiritually when they ate from the tree of knowledge of good and evil. However, they continued to live striving for acceptance, significance and to feel secure.
Do you struggle knowing acceptance, significance, and security?
We receive acceptance, significance, and security when we ask Jesus to be our savior. However, many times we are like Eve and we question God and sin.
I love that Jesus provides for us a way to acceptance, significance, and security.
Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. John 14:6.
Just as I celebrate an anniversary with Doug each year, I celebrate an anniversary of knowing Jesus as my Savior.
Father God, thank you for life and that is eternal life. In John 3:16. “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life, this life begins with believing in Jesus, thank you for Jesus and the forgiveness of sins. Thank you that I am a saint now no longer a sinner. Thank you for accepting me as your daughter. Because you accept me, I am accepted, significant and secure.
When is your anniversary of accepting Jesus as your savior?

August 12, 2018 at 7:59 pmApril 13, 1994, I was 14 years old. I grew up in church and began reading the bible on my own at about 9 years old. I was so excited to learn more and get closer to God. I am so glad that He found me and tugged at my heart 26 years ago – it helped me through so many hard times and hard decisions.
