Introduction
I am so sorry that I have not been blogging. I’ve been writing some for HeartWingsBlog.com but have not had many words to share here. I don’t know if it is writer’s block or good old fashion procrastination. But, today at church, I was reminded that God is in control.
The Bible has always been important to me, I can remember sitting on the porch at my friend’s house when I was maybe ten-years-old and we would read the King James Version of the Bible.
Accepting the challenge over the next hundred days to read in the book of Psalms, I thought you might join me. Of course, I will also be studying Acts and The Letter to the Apostles with Bible Study Fellowship (BSF)
I’ve attended BSF many years and it is an excellent vehicle for studying God’s word. If you have one near you, I encourage you to attend. BSF is online now also. It is a four fold approach to studying God’s word. You prepare a lesson by answering questions, then attend class answering the questions in a group setting, attend a lecture, then read the notes on what you just studied.
Beloved, this is where I’ve gained most of my Biblical knowledge.
So today I just want to encourage you to read Psalm 1.
Scripture
If you click on the link you can read it in the KJV of the Bible.
Thoughts
Verse 2 and 3 spoke to me this morning. Read with me verse 2
“But his delight is in the law of the Lord; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.” Psalm 1:2
I asked myself, do I delight in God’s word? Do I meditate on God’s word day and night? Do I memorize and mull over His words?
Read this verse in a different version of the Bible. Where else does the Bible talk about God’s word?
Then in verse 3 it tells us if we do we will be like a tree planted by the water.
“And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.” Psalm 1:3.
We will prosper when we take the time to read and meditate on God’s word.
Conclusion
Will you join me and write out your observations on Psalm 1?
Father God, make me hungary to read, and meditated on Your word, help me to memorize and understand your word. In Jesus name, Amen.
