This picture is at Vail Lake in Hemet, California. A picture captures a memory. We all have good and bad memories. Once in a while a memory is magical or the memory marks a milestone in life. When something in life happens that is tragic we may have bad memories. When something in life happens that is good we may have a good memory.
God is so good. When we have bad memories, God will heal your damaged emotions; then the memory fades. As I shared a few days back, forgiveness is the key that will unlock the memory. When we forgive a person who has hurt us from the core our being, we may still remember, but the pain is less.[Tweet “Forgiveness is a choice that we must do.”]The formula: I choose to forgive (name of person) for (offense or what they did to hurt you) and it made me feel (name the feeling or the emotion.)
God is mercy. God forgives us as far as the east is from the west. His mercies are new every morning. Great is His faithfulness. My testimony is found in Psalms 103: 1-5
I am not able to forget all His benefits, He forgave all my sins, He heals me, He redeemed me from the pit, He crowns me with love and compassion, He satisfies my desires with all good things, my life is renewed like an eagle. Isaiah 40: 28-31
Do you not know?
Have you not heard?
The Lord is the everlasting God,
the Creator of the ends of the earth.
He will not grow tired or weary,
and his understanding no one can fathom.
29 He gives strength to the weary
and increases the power of the weak.
30 Even youths grow tired and weary,
and young men stumble and fall;
31 but those who hope in the Lord
will renew their strength.
They will soar on wings like eagles;
they will run and not grow weary,
they will walk and not be faint.
As I wind down the series on giving thanks, I am so thankful that the Lord is an everlasting God, I am thankful He created the earth, you and me. I am thankful that God never grows weary and that God is an understanding God. I am thankful He gives strength to the weary, I have been weary at times, I am thankful that you increase the power of the weak. Even if we grow tired and weary, even if we stumble and fall, my hope is in the Lord. I am thankful that the Lord renews my strength,
Just as I have memories of our time at Vail Lake, and I have memories of my childhood, when I graduated, when I married, when I had my sons, when I graduated from nursing school, I have memories of the times when I came to the Lord broken and how He healed me. My damaged emotions are but a memory……………
Father God, You are good. You are merciful. You are Abba, my daddy. You renew our strength and you let us fly on wings of eagles, we can run and not grow weary, we can walk and not faint.
Your turn, I am thankful for…………………….
