Be strong and of good courage, do not fear nor be afraid of them, for the Lord Your God, He is the One who goes with you. He will not leave you nor forsake you. Deuteronomy 31:6
Background.
The Israelites wandered for many years in the desert because of rebellion and not trusting God. Moses passes the baton of leadership over to Joshua. In Deuteronomy 31:7-8. Moses says to Joshua in the sight of all Israel, “Be strong and of good courage, for you must go with this people to the land which the Lord has sworn to their fathers to give them, and you shall cause them to inherit it. And the Lord is the One who goes before you. He will be with you. He will not leave you nor forsake you, do not fear or be dismayed.
My five-minutes of thoughts on the word leave.
Moses did not go to the promise land. He handed the leadership of the Israelites over to Joshua and Caleb. They were the two men out of twelve that did not lie about the promise land. Yes there would be challenges to leave what they knew and go to something new. But God had promised victory and gave them the land flowing with milk and honey. In the New Testament, we see Jesus preparing the disciples that He would have to leave them and then the Holy Spirit would come as a comforter. Have you ever had to leave a loved one behind? or leave a job that you loved? or transfer positions? or move leaving behind a house, neighbors, and friends that you love? The Israelites have wandered in the desert until the last person in the group of unbelievers has passed away, a new generation was waiting to leave the desert and go into the promise land. What might God be asking you to leave?
Father God, today is the end of the 31 day challenge. I want to give you all the praise and honor as the thoughts I have are a result of your love. I pray for the person who needs to make a decision that he or she will make the right decision. Lord, for the person that is hurting because they have had to leave a loved one, will you meet them where they are at and give them comfort.
Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called the sons of God. Matthew 5:9
Dr. Jeremiah says that peacemakers experience joy and excitement as they help others reconcile with God and one another.
I hope you have enjoyed the 31 days of blessings series. I have enjoyed the challenges of writing daily. Blessings.
