On Friday’s Lisa-Jo Baker gives a word and encourages one to write for five minutes on this word. Five minute Fridays encourages so many to write and then link the piece, the only rule is to read another writer’s blog and leave a note of encouragement. The word this week is Bloom. Five minutes, start.
Spring is past, summer is here.
Flowers are blooming.
God paints the sky, sends the rain.
Flowers are blooming.
Every day we are a new creation
Flowers are blooming.
Reading God’s word
Flowers are blooming.
Praying, Thriving
Flowers are blooming.
Today is the day that God has made
Flowers bloomed.
Five minutes go so quickly. As I was writing, I was thinking of Psalm 1. “Blessed is the woman who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked or stand in the way of sinners or sit in the seat of mockers. But her delight is in the law of the Lord, and on his law she meditates day and night. She is like a tree planted by the streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither. Whatever she does prospers. Not so wicked! They are like chaff and the wind blows away. Therefore the wicked will not stand in judgment, nor sinners in the assembly of the righteous. For the Lord watches over the way of the righteous, but the wicked will perish.”
When we are planted in God’s word, whispering our prayers, our work does not blow away like chaff. We Bloom.
B-Blessed. “Blessed is the woman who preservers under trial, because when she has stood the test, she will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love God.” James 1:8
L-Love. “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength.” Deuteronomy 6:5
O- Obedient. “We demolish arguments every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ. 2 Corinthians 10:5
O-Overjoyed. “But rejoice that you participate in the sufferings of Christ, so that you may be overjoyed when his glory is revealed.” 1 Peter 4:13
M-Motive. “And you, my son Solomon (my daughter, Diana) acknowledge the God of your father, and serve him with whole-hearted devotion and with a willing mind, for the Lord searches every heart and understands every motive behind the thoughts. If you seek him, he will be found by you, but if you forsake him, he will reject you forever. Consider now, for the Lord has chosen you to build a temple as a sanctuary. Be strong and do the work.” 1 Chronicles 28: 9-10.
What trials are stopping you from blooming into the woman God has called you to be?
What do you love more than Jesus?
What thoughts do you need to take captive to the Lord?
When you are overjoyed do you share your joy with others?
What are your motives in serving the Lord?
Father God for the woman reading this let her be planted by the stream, so that as she read your word it will be planted deep in her heart so that she can bloom. Let her trust you with all her plans. Let her seek you in all her plans. Help her to love Jesus. Let her seek the son like the sunflower does daily. The sunflowers seek and follow the son and every part of the sunflower is used. Let her bloom and be used to bring glory to your name. Blessings.
“For He Himself knows our frame; He is mindful that we are but dust. As for woman, her days are like grass; as a flower of the field so she flourishes.” Psalm 103:14-15
