Beloved, this week on the dusty road with Jesus, in my travels at work, I met a man who is still grieving the loss of his father. His father was a WWII veteran that was a fighter pilot that gave his life for his country, flying a fighter jet that went into the sea. He died two months before this man was born. Believe me, his story touched me. His dad was a hero fighting for our country.
My mom died on this day in 1977, a different kind of hero. She loved my brother and me with every breath that she took. Dale and I were her world. She taught both of us to love Jesus and to pray.
Who is your hero?
Our verse today is, “And you shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free.” John 8: 28
The truth is that Jesus is God’s Son and He alone is the way, the truth, and the life. John 14:6. He paid the penalty for the sins of the world because in Roman 3:23 it says, “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.”
Yes, I am a sinner saved by grace. Not someone who has just made wrong choices as I saw one post recently. I am not afraid of the gospel or the good news. If Jesus had not been willing to die on the cross, I would not be going to heaven.
Is Jesus your Savior?
My sweet friend has written a poem about Jesus and salvation.
“SWEET JESUS”
Karen L. Clark
Sweet. sweet Jesus
You fill up my soul
I’m now overflowing
You’re so bountiful.
Sweet, sweet Jesus
On your heavenly Throne
Your love flown down
To my earthly home.
Into my life
You come each day
To love and care for me
To show me your way.
Sweet, sweet Jesus
You suffered and died
For men like me
How you must have cried.
A heavenly home
You’ve prepared just for me
You came down from heaven
To set people free.
Free from our sin
The devil had lied
But people believed
In our God when you died.
Dead to sin
Then brought to new life
Because of sweet Jesus
We are born into Christ!
Sweet Lord Jesus
So kind and so good
I’ll love you forever
And serve as I should.
Closer and closer
I grow to my Christ
I thank him I’m growing
I have a new life!

When we believe we are set free from darkness, and we move into the light. We are saved to serve. How does this truth mobilize you to serve God.
Father God, we pray for the hurricane victims, and we ask for salvation for our families who do not believe. In Jesus’s name. Amen.
