My Grandma Johnson could make the best cinammon rolls and chocolate pie. I think the chocolate pie had healing powers, and I know one forgot about the calories as you were asking for your second piece. She attended church and insisted her family go to church. She tithed her money even her birthday money. Some of the funny antics, one day my uncle walked into her house to find her with her head in the gas oven drying her hair. She made her own clothes and beautiful quilts. She raised four children and then combine her family with Mr. Johnson’s twelve when his wife passed away. She was faithful to God and her family.
The sixth characteristic of a born-again believer is one is faithful. Faithful is defined true to one’s word, promises, vows, reliable, and trusted. God gives us many examples in the Bible of His faithful servants. Where would Saul have been if there had not been a faithful Ananias? Where would Elijah have been if there had not been the faithful widow and her son? What about Timothy without his faithful grandmother?
Jesus’ popularity has grown to where the crowd’s great so by the time the friends arrive with the paralytic the house is so full that there’s no way to get this man in front of Jesus. One friend had started this plan he had the faith of a mustard seed and he finally convinced the other three that if they could only get their friend to Jesus. He had heard how this man had performed miracles. He had become a faithful follower not long ago. The only solution was to take him up on the roof. Digging through the roof and lowering him down. Jesus glances up and sees the friends faces. Jesus will you heal him is written in their eyes. Jesus understands hearts are linked, the paralytic is healed based on the friends’ faith. Beloved, Jesus healed the paralytic based on the friends’ faith. The friends were faithful.
Grandma teaches me many things in life to sew, to cook, to love God, to tithe, and to never learn how to clean catfish.
Beloved, the sixth characteristic of a born-believer is being faithful. How are you doing on being faithful?
Father God, thank you for your faithfulness to me. Help me to continue to be faithful in my prayer life, in my bible reading. Help the woman reading this that may be paralyzed with fear? Help those that need a new job or a promotion to be faithful in the one they have now. Lord, I pray for those that are ill. I pray for the mom that is struggling with balancing her work, her job, raising children and faithfulness. In Jesus name, I pray. Amen
How can you show your faithfulness?

October 7, 2017 at 9:45 pmWhat a heart warming story you share about Grandma Johnson. She sounds like an amazing women who loved the Lord in so many ways. We you speak about being faithful in times of the good and the bad, I am reminded how I have fallen short of remaining faithful during some of those most difficult times I have lived through. I find myself apologizing over and over to God for allowing the enemy to take captive of my thoughts. I have committed to remain strong in my beliefs and hold my faithfulness to the Lord closer to my heart and to deepen my relationship with his love and promises.
