Double Trouble

Today’s reading is chapter 25 of Genesis. Beloved, have you lost someone to death, I have to tell you when my father died in November 2017, my world was rocked. But before this occurred I lost my mom in October 1977. My dad remarried in June of 1978.

Abraham marries again after the death of Sarah. He has more children. However, the blessing and inheritance go to Issac. But God records that Abraham gave gifts to his other children and sends them to the land in the east. The scripture we read today includes Ishmael’s sons. He had twelve sons.

When Issac was forty-years-old, he married Rebekah. Issac prays for Rebekah to have a child, apparently, she was having trouble conceiving a child. I love how the Lord answered Issac’s prayer, she becomes pregnant with twins. Beloved, there was no ultrasound but the babies struggled in the womb so much that Rebekah asks the Lord what is happening.

Two babies, two nations will be rivals, your older son will serve the younger one. Rebekah gives birth to sons, naming them Esau and Jacob.

Issac was sixty years old when he became a father.

Abraham passes away when Esau and Jacob were fifteen years old.

My something old is that Abraham remarried, my something new was that Issac prayed for Rebekah to become pregnant, my something to do is to pray for my husband.

Even though I lost my dad, God is in control.

Father God, you blessed Abraham with many descendants, just like you said you would. Bless those reading this blog.

Beloved, what is God asking you to do?

good thoughts. There is a great book I have been using for years to help you pray for your husband. Praying for your Husband from head to Toe by Sharon Jaynes. She has 30 days of prayers plus prayers for salvation and healing. Excellent book.
