Wisdom is a tree of life to those who embrace her; happy are those who hold her tightly. (Proverbs 3:1)

Peter embraces his new found boldness from the Holy Spirit. Peter, if you remember is the disciple that denied Jesus three times the night that Jesus is captured and held for trial. Then Peter meets with Jesus after Jesus is risen from the grave and Jesus asks Peter three times, if he loves him and then shares with him to feed his lambs. Jesus’ penetrating eyes staring into the soul of Peter, “Do you love me?” Peter stands with confidence and preaching a part of the Old Testament from the Book of Joel about the coming of the Holy Spirit. He embraces the TRUTH of God’s word. Acts 2:36
Therefore let all Israel be assured of this: God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Messiah.”
Peter declares in Acts 2:38-40
“Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. The promise is for you and your children and for all who are far off—for all whom the Lord our God will call.”
With many other words he warned them; and he pleaded with them, “Save yourselves from this corrupt generation.”Those who accepted his message were baptized, and about three thousand were added to their number that day.

Father God, we see the power of your Holy Spirit in the early church. We embrace this power and ask to be filled with the Holy Spirit. Father for anyone who may not know Jesus I ask that you open there eyes so that they may see that you are our heavenly Father and that you gave us Jesus because we needed a savior as we were born sinners. I ask that they come to a saving knowledge of Jesus. And then be filled with the Holy Spirit. In the wonderful name of Jesus, Amen.
