Five Minute Friday- A time to write for five minutes and then to link with other writers- The word this week is READY.
The first thing I thought about when I saw the word READY is “Ready, Set, Go!’ When I was in high school, I had two goals one was to graduate and the other was to marry my high school sweet heart, Doug. I was ready to go on with my life. I had a teacher in Phys Ed her name was Mrs. Kent and she would say those words, Ready, Set, Go and then we were to run the track at school. I hated running, it made you all sweaty.
Today, I am ready. Are you ready? “So you also must be ready, because the son of Man (JESUS) will come at an hour when you do not expect Him!” Matthew 24:44
I am in a leadership role at my church for the next twenty-six weeks. We are studying Victory Over The Darkness, and The Bondage Breaker. These two books changed my life back in 1995 and 1996. The books are by Neil Anderson. Victory Over Darkness is a book about who we are in Christ. You see in Christ I am free from condemnation. In Christ I am justified. And basically in Christ I am ready. Ready to meet God the minute he decides my life here on earth is over. Jesus will return, it is not if but when. Are you ready? I accepted Christ as my personal savior when I was eleven years old. Satan would have me doubt my commitment because I have made some mistakes and made some poor choices, but the reality is I do believe that Jesus is God’s son and that He died on a cross for my sins and defeated death on the 3rd day so that all who believe in Him will have eternal life. John 3:16.
I am ready, I am ready to tell the world that Jesus is my savior. I am ready to tell the world that I am not perfect but I have a savior who is and he declares me his daughter. God says I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Psalm 139:14. I am free in Christ in Galatians 5:1. So yes you see I am ready. Ready to celebrate and be free in Christ.
So even though I hated running in school and I probably made my teacher pull out her hair, I am ready to run this race. “Therefore, since we have so great a cloud of witness surrounding us, let us also lay aside every encumbrance, and the sin which so easily entangles us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Hebrews 12:1
Come Lord Jesus, I am READY.
When I come to five minute Friday, I usually have to think about the word before I can write for the five minutes. This time I really struggled so I wrote this in several attempts to be witty and yet the subject about being ready is a serious one. I would love to hear from you, if you have any questions about being ready to meet our Lord and Savior, please contact me. Blessings Diana
