When asked, “how are you?” I respond, “I’m blessed!” How do you respond when someone asks how you are? The apostle Paul in Ephesians 1:3 shares that blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places. In verse 4 we’re chosen by God. Verse 5 we’re accepted in the beloved. Verse 7 we have redemption through his blood and forgiveness of sins. In verse 13, we have a guarantee being sealed by the Holy Spirit.
This brings us to Paul’s pray for spiritual wisdom.
I heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for all the saints.’ do not cease to give thanks for all the saints, do not cease to give thanks for you, making mentions of you in my prayers; that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give you the strength and wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him. (Ephesians 1: 15-17)
Beloved, I know a few of you that I am writing and I know of your faith and your love for those that you pray for and witness. I know the burden you carry for the members of your family that are not serving the Lord right now. It is awesome when we can actually pray God’s word and is why I love the next verses so much. You see we did come to God begging, God comes after us and makes us his own. And we’re filled with hope and beyond all doubt that we are in Christ and we belong to him. We have every spiritual gift in Jesus Christ. We have everything we need in Christ. We’re empowered to walk in unity, love, light and wisdom.
Beloved, “I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in his holy people, and his incomparably great power for us who believe. That power is the same as the mighty strength.” (Ephesians 1:18-19)
What is the hope of your calling? The power describes that we have is dynamic, energetic, mighty and strong this is ours to have we just need to use the power. What stops us from using this power that God gives us? Fear
Beloved, will you become powerful in your walk with the Lord sharing your testimony with your neighbors, your doctor, your friends and your spouse?
I hope you will give you a reason for your hope and not be ashamed of your faith.
Life Lesson. We must prepare to give a reason for our hope.
Song: My Hope Is Built On Nothing Less
Father God, the apostle Paul gives us a reason for hope we’re adopted, accepted, redeemed, sealed and accepted because of your Son. We come running to you Lord Jesus because of your love for us. Thank you for loving us completely for your grace and mercy. Thank you for the spiritual blessings that we have. For the hope that is ours. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
