God whispers I am God, five reasons to be awestruck with God.
What do you think when I say the word “awestruck?” The definition of awestruck is being filled with awe. Synonyms are amazed, astonished, astounded, shocked, stunned, dumbfounded, or bowled-over. Beloved, do you get the idea of the grandeur of the word awestruck?
What fills you with awe? A breath-taking sunrise, or a sunset. How about a newborn child’s beauty, a puppy, colors that change with the seasons, such as a redbud tree.
Through creation, we can hear God whisper; I am God. The skies that He paints with a sunrise or a sunset are spectacular.
Today the word is awestruck, and I will share five reasons to be amazed by God. Although there are many attributes of God, characteristics that help us understand God, let’s look at love, grace, mercy, righteousness, and sovereignty.
Love
God is love. He loved us first, and because He loved us first, we can love. Read with me this verse in 1 John:
“We love him, because he first loved us.” 1 John 4:19 KJV.
Beloved, grab hold of the meaning of this verse; because God loves us, we can love, feel love, and we are loved.
Additionally, this is further verified in this cross-reference passage,
“And love consists in this: not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son as the atoning sacrifice for our sins.” 1 John 4:10. KJV
Culminating in His Gift to us,
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” John 3:16 KJV.
God whispers: I have loved you with an everlasting love.

Grace
God is full of grace. He freely gives what we do not deserve. Salvation from our sins is only possible because of God’s grace. God’s grace provides hope for us. Not only hope but salvation from sins.
For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Ephesians 2:8. KJV.
Our spiritual blessings described in these verses:
“For He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world to be holy and blameless in His presence. In love He predestined us
for adoption as His sons through Jesus Christ, according to the good pleasure of His will, to the praise of His glorious grace, which He has freely given us in the Beloved One.… Ephesians 1: 4-6. Berean Study Bible.
I attend Bible Study Fellowship, and the notes are always so rich and full of informative wisdom. Lesson 18 presented the Doctrine of Grace. From page 4 of the notes, “God’s grace provides hope for needy souls. God’s grace is costly, not cheap. Jesus Christ paid a high price so God could freely offer grace to sinners. God offers forgiveness from sin and eternity in the presence of God as a gift we do not deserve. God can freely give believers grace because Jesus paid the price of grace.”
God whispers: My son gave his life so that you may have life.

Mercy
“Mercy” can be defined as “compassion or forbearance shown especially to an offender or to one subject to one’s power”; and also “a blessing that is an act of divine favor or compassion.
We read about mercy in Hebrews,
“For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who was tempted in every way that we are, yet was without sin. Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.” Hebrews 4:15-16. Berean Study Bible.
Mercy and grace go hand in hand. We have a merciful God who does not treat us as our sins deserve. Because of His mercy, we can enter a relationship and His presence at any time.
God whispers, be merciful as I am Mercy.

Righteousness
We serve a righteous God. God is righteousness. Righteousness is one of the chief attributes of God as portrayed in the Bible.
Consider these verses
“So the leaders of Israel and the king humbled themselves and said, “The LORD is righteous.” 2 Chronicles 12:6.
“Righteous are You, O LORD, and upright are Your judgments.” Psalm 119:137
Beloved, we are righteous because of God’s righteousness. We experience holiness from God.
“But now, apart from the law, the righteousness of God has been revealed, as attested by the Law and the Prophets. And this righteousness from God comes through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no distinction, for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,”…Romans 3: 21-23. Berean Study Bible.
God whispers: you are righteous because I am righteous.
Sovereign
The doctrine of sanctification and justification is revealed in the life of the believer because God is sovereign. When you ask Jesus to be your savior in faith, God credits you as righteous, justified, and sanctified.
We see the sovereign plan of God demonstrated in the life of Abraham and Sarah, Issac and Rebekah. Abraham lied about his relationship with Sarah not once but twice to prevent potential harm to Abraham. So God intervened and kept Sarah safe then at ninety, she gave birth to the promised child Issac.
Additionally, Rebekah was promised Jacob was the chosen one to receive the birthright and even though they conspired to obtain the birthright. God confirmed his will, and Jacob received the blessing even though Issac wanted to give it to his son Esau.
Lastly, we see the sovereign plan of God with his son Jesus. One only has to read about his birth to realize how God protected him from King Herrod.
Beloved, read these verses,
Keep this commandment without stain or reproach until the appearance of our Lord Jesus Christ, which the blessed and only Sovereign One— the King of kings and Lord of lords— will bring about in His own time. He alone is immortal and dwells in unapproachable light. No one has ever seen Him, nor can anyone see Him. To Him be honor and eternal dominion! 1 Timothy 6: 14-16. Berean Study Bible.
God whispers, I love you, and I am Sovereign.
Conclusion
Beloved, I could share so many more verses that paint the glory, the awe of God. I am awestruck by the magnitude of His love that He would save a sinner like me. I’ve made many mistakes, yet God, in His love, grace, and mercy, forgives me as far as the east is from the west.
