God Whispers in the Sunrise, three ways to hear the voice of God.
Fernando Ortega sings a song that I love, “Give Me Jesus.”
In the morning, when I rise, give me Jesus. Give me Jesus my heart’s cry. I’ve shared that I have not always been a morning person, but God answered my prayer, and many mornings I am awake before sunrise. How about you are you up before dawn?
Sunrise
When I arise at sunrise, I spend time with the Lord. This year I am writing scripture. I have been writing out the Psalms. How do you spend your quiet time in the morning? There are three ways to hear God’s voice.
- Praying
- Reading
- Writing God’s Word.
Praying
Praying ushers us into the presence of God. Some pray in their minds, some pray by speaking out loud, and some, like me, write their prayers. God desires to hear our voice. He wants to listen to our needs.
In my distress I called upon the Lord, and cried unto my God: he heard my voice out of his temple, and my cry came before him, even into his ears. Psalm 18:6. KJV.
Hear the voice of my supplications, when I cry unto thee, when I lift up my hands toward thy holy oracle. Psalm 28:2
That still small voice is from God. Read with me in Psalm 29 regarding the voice of God.
The voice of the Lord is upon the waters: the God of glory thundereth: the Lord is upon many waters. Psalm 29:3
The voice of the Lord is powerful; the voice of the Lord is full of majesty. Psalm 29:4
The voice of the Lord breaketh the cedars; yea, the Lord breaketh the cedars of Lebanon. Psalm 29:5
The voice of the Lord divideth the flames of fire. Psalm 29: 7
Reading
Reading devotions and reading God’s Word ushers you into the presence of God. The Holy Spirit illuminates God’s Word. As we read, we receive our marching orders for the day. The voice of God becomes one you recognize as you read the scripture.
The scripture says when we draw near to God, he draws near to us in James 4: 7-8.
Writing
I’ve been writing scripture since that last study through Proverbs 31.org. Write The Word. We cultivate our relationship with God when we know His Word, and writing the Word brings us into the presence of God. Additionally, I write my prayers.
Conclusion
In the morning when I rise, in the morning when I wake, I give Me Jesus in the morning when I rise.
Beloved slow down, spend time with Jesus and God, let the Holy Spirit fill you, and meet your needs.
Which of these methods do you need to cultivate?
