God Whispers “Make,” four tips to absolutely improve your time with God
Are you creative? Do you sew, write, cook?
Sewing was my creative outlet; in High School, I made all my clothes, including my formals that I wore to dances. A few years ago, I made a whole wardrobe for my granddaughter’s American Girl Doll.
The word today is the word “make.” Make is in the Bible 1,130 times. The first time we see the “make” in the Bible is when God makes Adam and then Eve.
And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. Genesis 1:26.
Make is defined as to form (something) by putting parts together or combining substances; construct; create.
Bible Story
We read in Genesis how God told Noah to build an ark. However, God whispers: Make.
Make thee an ark of gopher wood; rooms shalt thou make in the ark, and shalt pitch it within and without with pitch.
And this is the fashion which thou shalt make it of: The length of the ark shall be three hundred cubits, the breadth of it fifty cubits, and the height of it thirty cubits.
A window shalt thou make to the ark, and in a cubit shalt thou finish it above; and the door of the ark shalt thou set in the side thereof; with lower, second, and third stories shalt thou make it. Genesis 6: 14-16. KJV.
Four Tips
What do we learn from Noah? Here are the four tips to improve your time with God.
- We need a personal relationship with God.
- We need to listen for God’s whispers.
- We need to make time daily to spend time with God.
- We need to follow God’s instructions.
Personal relationship
God called Noah by name. God spoke to Noah. Do you have a personal relationship with God? Have you accepted Jesus as your savior? If so in John 10, Jesus says he knows his sheep by name.
I am the good shepherd, and know my sheep, and am known of mine. John 10:14
Listen
Beloved God whispers to us and we need to be listening. He speaks to us through His Word.
And other sheep I have, which are not of this fold: them also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice; and there shall be one fold, and one shepherd. John 10: 16.
Make time
Beloved, I prayed and asked God to become a morning person. I desired a relationship with God that was consistent. Don’t get me wrong any time with Jesus is great, however, for me the discipline of time alone with God was something I had to cultivate.
I had to make time to read God’s word and to pray.
My voice shalt thou hear in the morning, O Lord; in the morning will I direct my prayer unto thee, and will look up. Psalm 5:3
Yet the Lord will command his lovingkindness in the day time, and in the night his song shall be with me, and my prayer unto the God of my life. Psalm 42:8
Follow God’s Instructions
Beloved, God’s word is active and alive.
For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedgedsword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. Hebrews 4:12 KJV.
However, we need to be doers of God’s word. Noah followed God’s instructions in making the ark and his family was saved. God whispered, Go into the ark. God shut the door of the ark.
Thus did Noah; according to all that God commanded him, so did he. Genesis 6:22.
Conclusion
I am so thankful for my creativity and how God made me, are you?
Beloved, God is good, He is whispering how much he loves you, as he loves you with an everlasting love. Father God, make me a willing vessel to serve you. In Jesus’s name, Amen.

February 5, 2021 at 1:48 amThanks for sharing your insights, friend. I hadn’t thought about “make” in this context before. Hebrews 4:12 also came up in my study this week, a powerful reminder and motivator to make time for God and study of His word!
