Hear My Cry

Introduction

When was the last time you cried out to the Lord? We hear Abraham cry to the Lord, and the Lord provides a son, then a ram in the thicket as an offering. We hear Moses cry for the Israelites when they disappoint God by crafting the golden calf. We hear King David cry out when he repents of his sin with Bathsheba. We hear Joshua cry asking to be brave and courageous as he declares that he and his house will serve the Lord. We hear Nehemiah cry out for his beloved Jerusalem as he rebuilds the city. We hear Daniel cry out that his body will not be defiled by eating foreign food and when he prays three times a day knowing he will be punished. What are you asking God to do for you?

Psalm 119:166

Scripture

161 Princes have persecuted me without a cause: but my heart standeth in awe of thy word.

162 I rejoice at thy word, as one that findeth great spoil.

163 I hate and abhor lying: but thy law do I love.

164 Seven times a day do I praise thee because of thy righteous judgments.

165 Great peace have they which love thy law: and nothing shall offend them.

166 Lord, I have hoped for thy salvation, and done thy commandments.

167 My soul hath kept thy testimonies; and I love them exceedingly.

168 I have kept thy precepts and thy testimonies: for all my ways are before thee.

169 Let my cry come near before thee, O Lord: give me understanding according to thy word.

My Thoughts:

What an awesome prayer? The Psalmist reaffirms that he hates sin. How many times a day do you praise the Lord? He then declares the benefit of being in God’s word. He finds peace as God answers his prayer. Have you prayed for an understanding of God’s Word?

Will you trust God with your requests? Will you keep God’s laws and read His word.

Father God, help us to hunger for your word. Keep us diligent to serve and proclaim that Jesus Christ is Lord. In Jesus’ name. Amen

What is God asking you to do in response to these verses?
