How do you establish your name in heaven?

When I think of the word establish, I think of establishing my name. How have you found your name in your sphere of the world? Yet, when I reflect on the verses in the Bible, establish seems to be more profound. After all, God established His covenant with people like Noah, Abraham, Issac, and Jacob.

Establish is in the Bible 149 times, and its definition is to institute (something, such as a law) permanently by enactment or agreement or to make firm or stable.

Establish

God’s goal is to establish His righteousness on this earth began when he created the world. Glimpsing at the beauty of God, we see that the Garden of Eden had everything Adam and Eve needed.

We read about the trees He created in Genesis 2.

The Lord God planted a garden eastward in Eden, and there He put the man whom He had formed. ⁹ And out of the ground the Lord God made every tree grow that is pleasant to the sight and good for food. The tree of life was also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. Genesis 2:8-9.

The trees were pleasant to the sight and good for food. There is nothing better than fresh fruit from a tree. We had a navel orange tree in California, the fruit was colorful, and the taste was divine. Additionally, we had avocado trees, and the fruit was magnificent. This fruit from the tree of knowledge of good and evil must have been so appealing. We see the first lust of the eye in this tree. A desire is so profound that it leads to man’s downfall.

However, the tree of life and knowledge of good and evil in the Garden tells Adam and Eve not to eat from these trees. God said Adam and Eve could eat from any of the trees except these two trees.  We know the story but read with me these verses.

So when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, that it was^[a]pleasant to the eyes, and a tree desirable to make one wise, she took of its fruit and ate. She also gave to her husband with her, and he ate. Genesis 3:6.

Shame and sin entered the world, they knew they were naked, and they hid from God. Faulty thinking entered in how can you hide from God?

The results were that God then had to establish a plan, which is the redemption of humanity. Jesus is our redeemer. God established a covenant with Noah; By the time Noah lived, there was no one righteous except Noah. So God decided to destroy the world and establish a covenant through Noah.

But I will establish My covenant with you; and you shall go into the ark—you, your sons, your wife, and your sons’ wives with you. Genesis 6:18.

Jesus

Ultimately, this leads to the established time of the birth of Jesus. Jesus is the only one sinless and the only one who can pay for man’s sins to establish a lasting covenant with God.

You also be patient. Establish your hearts, for the coming of the Lord is at hand. James 5:8.

Heaven

God established our names, and they are written in the Lamb’s book of life when we accept Jesus as Savior and make Him Lord of our lives.

Father God, establish us in Your presence. Let us not wander. Let us seek you and glimpse at your beauty daily in Jesus’s name. Amen
