Hunger and Thirst after God’s Word

Introduction

I started this study in Psalm 119 in February, there are four days left in our study. I have found a promise in each section, what about you?

This Psalm is all about the Word of God and the importance of reading, meditating, and memorizing God’s Word.

What are you doing to make God’s Word the most important in your life? Are you hungering and thirsting after God and His Word? Read with me in Matthew.

Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled. Matthew 5:6

Psalm 119 :151

Scripture

I cried with my whole heart; hear me, O Lord: I will keep thy statutes.

146 I cried unto thee; save me, and I shall keep thy testimonies.

147 I prevented the dawning of the morning, and cried: I hoped in thy word.

148 Mine eyes prevent the night watches, that I might meditate in thy word.

149 Hear my voice according unto thy lovingkindness: O Lord, quicken me according to thy judgment.

150 They draw nigh that follow after mischief: they are far from thy law.

151 Thou art near, O Lord; and all thy commandments are truth.

152 Concerning thy testimonies, I have known of old that thou hast founded them for ever.

My Thoughts

The Psalmist declares his dependence on God. “I cried with my whole heart, hear me, O Lord.” When was the last time you cried with your whole heart for God to hear you?

Recently, a storm came in the middle of the night and the wind was so great. Currently, I live in a 5th wheel. The storm woke me out of a sound sleep. At first, I yelled at my husband, “If I die in this trailer, I will never forgive you?”

He was a smart man and didn’t point out the obvious. My next breath I found myself praying to God, to calm the wind and asking Him to protect us. God listened and my fear faded.

The Lord is near to all of us. His commandments are true. We can read of Him in Genesis securing the promise of Issac, we can read in Exodus His salvation of the children of Israel. We can read of questions being answered in John, not only for Nicodemus but for the disciples.

How have you seen God working in your life?

Conclusion

Do you hope in the Word? Do you meditate on God’s Word? Do you hear God’s voice in the night? Do you hear His voice in the morning?

Father God, in the storms of life you are there? Even when I take my eyes off of You, You are with us. Your Word is true. You are faithful. I am in awe of Your majesty. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

What is God asking you to do in response to this post?
