I remember where I was when John F Kennedy was shot since then at different moments in time, tragedy strikes. I remember the shooting at Columbine High School and before that was a massacre at a Mac Donalds in San Ysidro, of course, we will never forget what happened on Sept 11, 2001.
Tragedy marks those moments in time. What makes a day memorable? I still struggle with grief over my dad dying November 20, 2017. Soon it will be a year but not a day goes by that I do not think of him.
In the Columbine High School shooting a girl was shot because she said “Yes” to the question of “Do you believe in Jesus?” Micheal W. Smith recorded a song This is Your Time.
This was her time, this was her dance, she lived every moment and left nothing to chance. The song goes on that she swam in the sea drank in the deep, embraced the mystery of all she could be.
Yesterday, a friend lost her son, he lived life to the fullest but we will grieve for all he could be will now be completed in heaven.
Live in the moment, make the moments count. Shout from the rooftops, Jesus is Lord. Live in the moment, be all you can be.
Father God, although I am sad I know death is a part of life. I am choosing to celebrate in you Lord. I want to live in the moment until I see you face to face and hear the words, Well done good and faithful servant. I pray for those reading this that they will live in the moment.
