Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good. Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves. Romans 12: 9-10
As a nursing supervisor, I had so much responsibility. In my course of tenor, I had so many opportunities to honor and prefer others above myself. How do you prefer others? I think the commandment to love your neighbor as yourself helps us to prefer others above ourselves. We love God because He first loved us! What are the ways we show the preference? We pray for one another. We serve if we have the opportunity. Several ways I served my nurses was to work as hard as they did, I prayed for them, and I showed my respect.
Father God, help me to prefer others and be devoted to serving. You are a God that loves us and teaches us that love must be sincere. I ask that I hate what is evil and cling to what is good. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Who is God asking you to love that may be difficult?

April 17, 2018 at 10:21 amGod is asking me to love a family member who continues to struggle with honesty about life choices. I have prayed to God and asked Him to soften my heart toward this person. God is working wonders in my heart.

This is a great question and a challenging question. My work is customer service, which includes an element of security at a school. I must prefer others before myself all day long 5 days a week. It’s my job, except when someone is trying to do evil. Then I must be a momma bear protecting her cubs! Such an interesting dynamic!
Thank you!!
