S Though I am lowly and despised, I do not forget your precepts. Your righteousness is everlasting and your law is true. Trouble and distress have come upon me, but your commands give me delight.
O The Psalmist is feeling the pain of depression and oppression. Yet even though he is discouraged, he claims God’s word. Trouble and distress
A When we attacked from our enemies, God is our refuge and strength. When we are depressed and discouraged, God is there. When we are feeling distress, God’s word gives us delight and relieves our distress. When we are in trouble, God’s word when called to remembrance gives us insight and a way out of our trouble.
P Father God You are the alpha and the omega, the beginning and the end. I am in awe of your majesty and your love. You are righteous, and you love us with an everlasting love. Your word is sweeter than a honeycomb. Your word uplifts my soul, gives me direction and encourages me. Lord, I can bring my troubles to you and I do not have to be distressed. For those who are oppressed, meet their needs. For those despised, give them relief from their pain. For those in trouble or distressed, give them relief from their distress. Fill us with your Holy Spirit, enables us to memorize you word, and remember your words in times of trouble. In Jesus name, Amen
