The challenge to read this Psalm for a week, to read, to rest and to reflect on what God is saying in this Psalm. The Lord is my light and my salvation; Whom shall I fear? The Lord is the defense of my life; Whom shall I dread? Beloved, is the Lord your light, your salvation, and your defense?
In verse 4, David seeks to dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of his life, to behold the beauty of the Lord, and to meditate in His temple. Beloved, how can we fulfill these desires? Verses 5 and 6 says that in the day of trouble He the Lord will hide us in His tabernacle, He will lift us up on a rock, He lifts us above our enemies (our circumstances) and our responsibility is to or our response is to come to Him in joy; praising Him; yes even singing Praise Him Praise Him All ye little children, God is love.
In verses 7-10, David offers a prayer, “Hear, O Lord, when I cry with my voice, and be gracious to me and answer me.” King David asks not to have God hide his face, not to have God abandon him or forsake him. Beloved, what prayer do you need God to hear? Are there problems in your marriage? Is there a child in your class that you are struggling to connect and teach?
King David asked God to teach him. “Teach me Thy ways O Lord, And lead me on a level path, because of my foes.” Psalm 27: 11 What can God teach us? Verse 13 declares, “I would have despaired unless I had believed that I would see the goodness of the Lord.” What goodness do you expect from the Lord? How many of us experience good health, we are able to pay our bills, tithe our pay checks, enjoy our children, these are all blessings from God, goodness from the Lord. Beloved, are you thankful? Do you praise him in good times and bad?
In Verse 14, as believers, we sometimes have to wait. Beloved, it is okay to be in God’s waiting room. What are you waiting for?
“Wait for the Lord; Be Strong and let your heart take courage; Yes, wait for the Lord.” Psalm 27:14
So after reading Psalm 27 for a week, I am excited to say that my heart was blessed and enriched. It was good to read, rest, and reflect on one psalm for the week.
Father God, I praise you for who you are and I ask that you hear my prayers for those that are reading this. I ask that 2018 be one of prosperity and that our needs be met. Lord help the single mother. Lord be with the family that has more month than money. Lord, give us the courage to be the witness you want us to be and to be faithful to reading your word and to go to church. In Jesus name. Amen
What is God asking you to do in response to this post?
