“Now the boy Samuel was ministering to the Lord before Eli. And word from the Lord was rare in those days, visions were infrequent.” 1 Samuel 3:1.
Beloved, our word today is rare. Rare is in the Bible two times, and the definition means unusually good or remarkable. Many stories in the Bible of rare occurrences bring tears to your eyes. For example, when Samuel was a little boy. He hears his name, and Eli, the priest, realizes it is the Lord. He tells Samuel to go and listen; Samuel listens and hears from the Lord in 1 Samuel 3. Tell of a time you have heard from the Lord.
In Becky Tirabassi’s Change Your Life Journal, there is a listening section, do you take time to listen for the Lord’s voice? We can hear God’s voice by reading His word or by listening to sermons and podcasts.
Indeed, as a child of God, we can have the same relationship with God.
The fear of the Lord is pure and rare. We do not have to fear God when we are doing His will. All fear is removed when we are in his will and are serving Him.
King David’s prayers
Psalm 8
O Lord, our Lord,
How majestic is Your name in all the earth,
Who have [a]displayed Your splendor above the heavens!
2 From the mouth of infants and nursing babes, You have established [b]strength
Because of Your adversaries,
To make the enemy and the revengeful cease.
3 When I [c]consider Your heavens, the work of Your fingers,
The moon and the stars, which You have [d]ordained;
4 What is the man that You [e]take thought of him,
And the son of man that You care for him?
5 Yet You have made him a little lower than [f]God,
And You crown him with glory and majesty!
6 You make him ruler over the works of Your hands;
You have put all things under his feet,
7 All sheep and oxen,
And also the [g]beasts of the field,
8 The birds of the heavens and the fish of the sea,
Whatever passes through the paths of the seas.
9 O Lord, our Lord,
How majestic is Your name in all the earth!
Prayer
Father God,
Create in me a clean heart. Search me and see if I am filled with worry or anxiety. Thank you that I fearfully and wonderfully made. How majestic is your name in all the earth? Thank you that you bless what we do for a living. Please help me to be a witness. In Jesus’s name. Amen
What is God asking you to do in response to this post?

February 14, 2023 at 9:55 amI am so thankful to live in a time when the Word of God is readily available through abundant copies of the Bible (in my part of the world.) I pray that soon everyone can have the Word in their language.
