Beloved, our word is renew–renew is in the Bible sixteen times. Defining renew is to resume (an activity) after an interruption. Doesn’t this remind you of what might occur at a revival?
Create in me a clean heart, God,
And renew a steadfast spirit within me. Psalm 51:10
My daddy would preach a revival at least twice a year. Much prayer and preparation would go into this week of services. Does your church visit the members of the church? He believed in church visitation. Two by two, they would canvas the neighborhoods.
Interestingly, this is how he was saved. My mom had gone to the start of a revival, and the pastor and guest speaker came and visited my mom and dad, inviting them to church that evening. The guest speaker connected with my dad over a guitar. My dad grudgingly went and sat in the back row. During the invitation, he ran up to accept Christ as his savior and surrendered to preach shortly thereafter.
In the Bible, the examples are endless of renewal. Adam and Eve had to leave the Garden of Eden, but God renewed the people through their son Seth. Abraham made many mistakes, but he received the covenant of the promised child. Jesus is the ultimate gift of renewal because he gave his life, so we have eternal life.
Revival and renewal are happening in the youth of America. We need revival.
Yet those who wait for the Lord Will gain new strength; They will mount up with wings like eagles, They will run and not get tired, They will walk and not become weary. Isaiah 40:31.
What does renewal mean to you? R-Reflect on what God has done. E- Eternity with God N- Nearness to God is the most important thing we can do daily. E- Every day with Jesus is sweeter than the day before. W- Wonderful adventure with God.
Father God,
Please help me to be proactive in my testimony. Let people see Jesus in me. Lord God, I praise you for who you are. O, how I love you, Jesus. In Jesus’s name, Amen.
Who will you tell about Jesus today?
