While listening to a popular television preacher who preaches mainly from the status of that we can have everything based on our level of faith, he credited Psalm 90 written by King David…..
When I decided to write on a life verse from each chapter of the Bible, Titus has so many good verses but the lesson in Titus begins with Paul teaching Titus a young Pastor to the Greek island Crete. The qualifications of service are found in Titus Chapter 1: to be married, to live a blameless life, to not drink heavily, or to not be dishonest. Positively, he must enjoy having guest in his home and loving what is good, live a devoted and disciplined life. In Titus 1:9, “He must have a strong belief in the trustworthy message he was taught; then he will be able to encourage others with wholesome teaching and show those who oppose it where they are wrong.”
Paul then points out that many rebellious people have deceived others. Those have confused the doctrine, he shared about circumcision necessary for salvation in Titus 1:10
For there are many rebellious people who engage in useless talk and deceive others. This is especially true of those who insist on circumcision for salvation.
Paul emphatically calls the people of Crete liars, cruel animals, and lazy gluttons in verse thirteen. Paul instructs Titus the people of Crete reject the truth and his messages need purity in doctrine as we read in these next few verses, “To the pure, all things are pure, but to those who are corrupted and do not believe, nothing is pure. In fact, both their minds and consciences are corrupted. They claim to know God, but by their actions they deny him. They are detestable, disobedient and unfit for doing anything good. Titus 1:15-16
Paul compelled to instruct Titus how to instruct sound doctrine to older men, younger men, older women, younger women. Teach the older men to exercise self-control, to be worthy of respect and to live wisely, Titus 2:2. Teach older women to live in a way that honors God, to not drink heavily, to teach what is good, to teach younger women to love their husbands and children, To the younger women to live wisely, to be pure, to work in their homes, to do good, to be submissive to their husbands then no shame will be brought on the word of God. The young men were to live wisely, be an example by doing good works, and reflect integrity. Titus 2:3-6
We should not take verses out of context. Being raised Southern Baptist, I have always appreciated the sound doctrine that I received. Because my husband raised Catholic we had to find a church more middle of the road so attend Emanuel Faith in Escondido, CA. We’ve had sound doctrine, I had the privilege of being in Bible Study Fellowship once again sound doctrine. In order to get sound doctrine, one must attend a bible believing church. One must believe in Jesus Christ as God’s Son that he was born of a vn, he died on a cross, conquered death so that all who believe on him may have eternal life. John 14:6, “Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”
Lastly, Psalms 90 was written by Moses. Since that day I have stopped listening to that particular pastor. Strong doctrine pastors are Dr. David Jeremiah, Dr. Charles Stanley, Dr. Adrian Rogers, Andy Stanley, and I am sure there are more.
Beloved, Which plan do you use to study your bible? Do you know if your preachers are instructing you with solid doctrine?
Life Lesson: Do not be fooled by false teachers, know your bible yourself.
