Have you ever had a time when you have not stood firm in your faith? King David could see a beautiful woman from the vantage point of where he stood. She’s taking a bath. Her husband’s a warrior out fighting a war. We read about the story in God’s word. Do you think he was bored? Is that the reason he sought the relationship with Bathsheba? King David basically turned a deaf ear to the Holy Spirit. He then made so many poor choices, when Bathsheba becomes pregnant, King David arranges for her husband to come home but he doesn’t sleep with his wife. So he arranges him to go back to the war. The child does not live. Nathan has to come and face David and finally King David realizes his sin. He then confess his sin. Do you think if King David had stood firm in his faith, thing would have been different?
I’ve had several times where I have not stood firm in my faith, during this time my choices were not pleasing to the Lord. I drifted hurting myself gaining weight, hating myself. Setting myself up for illness. Consequences I am paying for with painful joints. Thoughts I still have to take captive to the Lord when Satan puts them in my head.
Beloved, how do you stand firm in your faith? Daily we need to be in God’s word. Daily we need to seek God’s face and pray.
Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth. 2 Timothy 2:15
But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you. Matthew 6:6
