Beloved, our word is stewardship–the job of supervising or taking care of something, such as an organization or property. Stewardship is not in the Bible, but the steward is in the Bible twelve times. We see it the first time with Joseph when he is reunited with Benjamin.
When Joseph saw Benjamin with them, he said to the steward of his house, “Take these men to my house, slaughter an animal and prepare a meal; they are to eat with me at noon.” Genesis 43:16
But as much as the presentation of a servant is presented in the old testament, in 1 Peter, we have the concept of stewardship.
Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms. 1 Peter 4:10.
Whatever gift, give gladly to the Lord. Do you sing? Do you bake? Whatever you do, do to the glory of God.
So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God. 1 Corinthians 10:31.
King David’s Prayer
Consider Psalm 108
My heart is steadfast, God;
I will sing, I will sing praises also with my [a]soul.
2 Awake, harp and lyre;
I will awaken the dawn!
3 I will give thanks to You, Lord, among the peoples,
And I will sing praises to You among the nations.
4 For Your mercy is great above the heavens,
And Your truth reaches to the skies.
5 Be exalted above the heavens, God,
And may Your glory be above all the earth.
6 So that Your beloved may be rescued,
Save with Your right hand, and answer me!
7 God has spoken in His [b]holiness:
“I will triumph, I will divide up Shechem,
And measure out the Valley of Succoth.
8 Gilead is Mine, Manasseh is Mine;
Ephraim also is the [c]helmet of My head;
Judah is My [d]scepter.
9 Moab is My washbowl;
I will throw My sandal over Edom;
I will shout aloud over Philistia.”
10 Who will bring me into the fortified city?
Who [e]will lead me to Edom?
11 God, have You not rejected us?
And will You not go forth with our armies, God?
12 Give us help against the enemy,
For deliverance [f]by man is worthless.
13 [g]Through God we will do valiantly,
And it is He who will trample down our enemies
Prayer
Father God,
Create in me a clean heart; search me and see if there is any anxiety or worry. Thank you that I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Thank you that I can praise you in song. Thank you that my life is such that I can honor you. Please help me to be a good steward of my time, talents, and money. In Jesus’s name. Amen

March 2, 2023 at 1:37 pmDiana, such a good reminder to steward what we have been given – including our time. It is so easy to use our time unwisely as so many things can demand our attention. Joining you in praying “to be a good steward of my time, talents, and money.” Blessings to you!
