Four to five weeks out of the year, I visit my daddy in Oklahoma. He lives in a small town in Oklahoma. I love visiting him and the small town where I spend much time of my youth. My joy in coming is hearing my dad declare the truth of God’s word.
While here I went to a retreat with Suzie Eller’s Come With Me, her new book that will be released in May. She challenge us to be the 13th apostle or disciple if you will. Be ready to say yes to Jesus when he says, “Come With Me.” What is God asking you to do right now? It may be as simple as to be the best carpool mom or the best school nurse, teacher, mom, chef, or hospital case manager. He may be calling you into missions, to step out in faith to tithe your pay check, to start writing a book, a blog, or maybe just to volunteer at the church nursery.
My dad is 90-years-old and is still preaching when he is called. Moses was eighty when he started leading the children of Israel out of Egypt. God does not let us retire until he says we can and then we can still pray. Right.
Whether you live in a small town or a city, God is at work, and he invites us to join him in his work. All he needs is our willingness. I am willing are you? In John 2: 15-17 these verses tell us to not love the world.
Beloved, do not love the world, love God.
