28 Days of Loving God -Day 18
Beloved, our word today is useful–able to be used for a practical purpose or in several ways. So useful is in the Bible eight times in the New Internationational Version. Therefore, our verse is a good verse to write and memorize.
All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, 2 Timothy 3:16.
The verse says the word of God is helpful for teaching. We can learn much from God’s word.
God’s word is good for rebuking you. Have you ever read God’s word and felt that nudge from the Holy Spirit, and then upon reading God’s word, it is suitable for training you how to live.
Did you see that God doesn’t shy away from the hard words? His word is helpful for teaching, rebuking, correcting, and training in righteousness. God’s word is powerful.
I love the book of Proverbs for training. Read Proverbs 3: 5-6 with me.
Trust in the Lord with all your heart
and lean not on your own understanding;
in all your ways submit to him,
and he will make your paths straight.
We see a time of rebuke in the scripture when Nathan was sent to David to confront him for his sin, and we read this in 2 Samuel 12. We see King David’s confession in Psalm 32 as training Matthew is an excellent book of training. Matthew 6 has the Lord’s prayer. One will never go wrong with reading God’s word. God’s word is his love letter to us.
Father God, your word is helpful to encourage us each day. You so love us. In Jesus’s name. Amen.
