Unwrapping the Names of Jesus – Day 27
Beloved, do you love the Bible and the stories within the Bible? Since I was a little girl, I’ve loved God’s Word. I remember as a child how I played Sunday School. One of us would be the teacher, and we would have a Bible as a prompt. We would pretend to tell the stories. My first Bible had the picture of Jesus as a Shepherd. He has so many names that we are unwrapping.
Today the name is Lord. Not Lord of Lords but Lord. We first see it in the Bible with all capital letters LORD. Wow, I just looked up how many times Lord is in the Bible, and it is 6 764 times.
Perhaps, the most famous is Psalm 23,
The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me to lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside the still waters. He restores my soul; He leads me in the paths of righteousness For His name’s sake. …
So many examples of when Jesus is revealed and called Lord.
After Peter denies Christ, Peter is asked three times if he loves the Lord, and Peter says, Lord, I love you. Then, Jesus says, feed my sheep.
Sweet Friend, Jesus is Lord.
Father God, thank you for being my Lord and Savior, My Shepherd.
