    31 Day Writings

Adventures on the dusty road with Jesus involves treasures in heaven.

Beloved, do you love the Lord your God with all your heart and your soul and with all your mind?

Oh, how the week passes quickly. How can it be Thursday already?

The Fourth of July is a time to celebrate, a time to honor our veterans. My dad served in World War II, and my brother Dale served in Vietnam. My dad is in heaven, and my brother is in Monroe, Washington. Although Dale suffers from his time in Vietnam, you would never know this; he is an amazing man. While he could, he served as a Chaplain to the military.

In the last two weeks, on my dusty road with Jesus, I met some amazing patients at the hospital, including one sweet lady. We spent time listening to praise music. My weekends are very busy. Truly, I enjoy my job as a hospital case manager. Additionally, I met with my two friends for lunch. We refreshed our bathroom by buying new rugs and a shower curtain. However, now I am going to have to buy some new towels.

While at lunch, my friend Karen gave me some of her poems, and I asked her if I could share a few. Here is the first one.

    “JESUS, THE TREASURE”

    Karen L. Clark

    Lay not your treasures

    Upon the earth

    Seek after the Lord

    Far more is He Worth!

    Cry not for clothes

    Or power or might

    But cry out to God

    To give you His life

    Seek after His love

    And His tender caress

    Gentle, you’ll find

    His love when expressed

    Better than diamonds

    Or silver or pearls

    More precious that gold

    His Kingdom, His World

    Nothing more precious

    On earth can you hold

Than the sweet love of Jesus

    Our God has foretold

    So worry not, about

    Things in this world

    But seek after Jesus

    The largest of pearls!

    A pearl in an oyster

    To some, hidden away

    One day it will open

    And all will obey

He is coming, He is near

    Oh, children of God

    A treasure for you

    To receive in a nod

    So think not of wealth

    Or of other such gains

    For only through Jesus

    Heavenly treasures are obtained

    Jesus, the Treasure

    Far above all we know

    The King of all Kings

    Such love does He show

    The diamond of life

    Jesus, God’s Son

    As you look upon Him

    Your salvation is won.

“Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. 20 But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. 21 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”

    Matthew 6: 19-21.

Sweet friend, such a powerful poem based on scripture. Often, writing scripture leads to prayer. My sweet friend Karen and I met in Bible Study Fellowship. I had moved from California to Missouri and was in need of local friends, so I returned to BSF. Judy our discussion leader and out lasting friendships formed. Next year we will study Revelation. I asked the question if you love God–where is your treasure?

My treasures are my salvation and my love of God, the Word of God, my family, my friends, my fur baby, and you.

    What are your treasures?
