Worthy is the lamb who was slain
Do you struggle with being worthy of someone’s love? Worthy is our word today. Defining worthy is having or showing the qualities or abilities that merit recognition in a specified way or as a noun–a person notable or essential in a particular sphere.
Jesus is the most notable person I know; He is worthy of all our love and praise. So worthy is in the Bible 51 times.
“Worthy, worthy, worthy is the lamb.” These words reverberate in my mind when I think of the verse in Revelation. Only God and Jesus are worthy of our praise.
Great is our God, great is our Jesus, and greater yet is the Holy Spirit.
In addition to the verse in Psalm, read with me in Revelation,
“saying with a loud voice: “Worthy is the Lamb who was slain To receive power and riches and wisdom, And strength and honor and glory and blessing!” Revelation 5:12. KJV.
John the Baptist declared,
“And he preached, saying, “There comes One after me who is mightier than I, whose sandal strap I am not worthy to stoop down and loose.” Mark 1:7. KJV.
Beloved, we see two ways to use the word worthy. One is declaring God’s worthiness, and the other is looking at worthiness. None of us are worthy to touch Jesus, yet because of Jesus, we are worthy. Because of Jesus, we are declared righteous–we receive mercy and grace in our times of need.
One of my favorite Bible stories is about a woman who was considered unclean for bleeding, yet, she has the faith to go to town and touch the robe of Jesus. She’s immediately healed. Jesus speaks to her and tells her that her faith healed her.
Father God, You, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit are worthy of our praise, and we praise You and thank You for Your love, mercy, and grace. In Jesus’s name, amen.
Beloved, sometimes I do not feel worthy of writing, yet God has given me this desire to write. What area of your life do you struggle with worthiness?
