Day 8: “Move” #5MWF
‘For in him we live and move and have our being.’ As some of your own poets have said, ‘We are his offspring.’ Acts 17: 28
This summer at retreat with Suzie Eller to launch her book, Come With Me, I signed up for the zip line. Yes, I faced my fear of heights, anticipating my turn, I watched as the other women go, I am in my harness ready to move.
Paul in Athens preaching to the people in Acts 17: 22-34, religious idols and Paul speaks addressing their objects of worship, and witnessing that God who create the world does not live in temples, he is not served by human hands, rather he gives life and breath. For in him we live and move and have our being.
It is my turn to move up to the zip line, I begin to climb. One peg, two peg, three pegs, the space between each step is really far apart. I look up and I know in my heart, I am not going to make it up the telephone pole because of my bad knees, but beloved, I moved and I tried and that is what God asks us to do.
