Our Hall of Faith Hero is Joseph. Joseph was sold into slavery and then accused of rape, sent to prison. He changes from his youthful ways of boasting and truly is dependent on the Lord. The Lord gives him a gift of being able to interpret dreams.
Dreams
We all have dreams, I am talking about the kind that you have when you fall asleep. I wake up thinking I need to remember that dream and yet I do not remember my dreams.
The Pharaoh’s dreams cause him much consternation to the point he seeks someone to interpret the dreams. Joseph is the man of the hour, he is able to tell the Pharaoh just what his dreams mean.
In addition to getting out of prison, Joseph is promoted to Pharaoh’s right hand man. He is in charge of preparing for the famine that will come. God gave them seven years to prepare.
Today in our crisis many of us feel that we were not given time to prepare to shelter in place.
Joseph administrates the seven years of plenty with precision and with faithfulness.
And Joseph gathered corn as the sand of the sea, very much, until he left numbering; for it was without number. Genesis 41:49.
Then the famine begins and the land surrounding Egypt is also struck.
And all countries came into Egypt to Joseph for to buy corn; because that the famine was so sore in all lands. Genesis 41: 57.

Guess who comes to Egypt. If you know the story, Joseph comes face to face with his brothers.
And Joseph saw his brethren, and he knew them, but made himself strange unto them, and spake roughly unto them; and he said unto them, Whence come ye? And they said, From the land of Canaan to buy food. Genesis 42:7.
Beloved Joseph comes face to face with the brothers that sold him into slavery.
How do you feel when you come in contact with someone you are estranged?
Joseph dreamed many years before that his brothers would bow in his presence and this is what happens next. Joseph accuses them of being spies.
And Joseph remembered the dreams which he dreamed of them, and said unto them, Ye are spies; to see the nakedness of the land ye are come. Genesis 42:9.
Beloved, why do you think Joseph did not tell them right away that he was alive?
Conflict is always hard. Sometimes to reconcile we need to see changed behavior. Sometimes we remain estranged.
Joseph is a man of integrity, while preparing for the famine, he married and had two sons. Do you think he thought of the family he was forced to leave? Do you think he asked God to be reunited with his family? All of this is not included in the scripture but the day came when God brought his brothers to the palace.
God does answers prayers but it may not be how we expect. God is good all the time and all the time God is good. God sees the big picture.
What prayer are you praying that has not been answered?
Will you pray all the more fervently?
Father God, You are omnipotent, omnipresent and omniscient. You love us as Your children and You are faithful to each one of us. May we never stop asking for salvation for our loved ones. May we always seek You above all else. At this time of suffering, may we be found faithful to reading your word and praying knowing that you are working in our lives for our good. In Jesus’ name Amen
How can I pray for you?
