Unwrapping the Names of Jesus -Day 4
“Jesus, Jesus, there is just something about that name.” Jesus is my savior, and when I think about the gift of eternal life, I am in awe.
Beloved, what stops you in your tracks and causes you to ponder the name of Jesus? Perhaps the beautiful sunrise or an answer to prayer.
So after you ponder the name of Jesus, what do you do with love that it stirs in your heart?
The first week of Advent is Hope. What are your struggles? Today, I had the opportunity to pray with two different people. I asked the one if I could pray for him after listening to his story, and he said the funniest thing. He said my dad used to say, “I would like for you to pray for me, and you probably need the practice.” So, sweet friend, I realized how important it is to share our stories, sayings, voice, love, and, yes, prayers.
The name of Jesus today is King of Kings: We usually say King of Kings and Lord of Lords, but today, let’s focus on the King of Kings.
Jesus promised the Jewish nation, but they expected an earthly King that would set up his kingdom and rule. And our Lord and Savior came into the world as a baby. This baby was the fulfillment of the Old Testament prophecies.
The Wisemen came seeking the King of Kings, the King of the Jews. Read with me this passage,
Now after Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king, behold, [a]wise men from the East came to Jerusalem, 2 saying, “Where is He who has been born King of the Jews? For we have seen His star in the East and have come to worship Him.” Matthew 2: 1-2.
Why did Israel or the Jews reject Jesus? Because He did not come and establish an earthly kingdom. Beloved, Jesus will come again and will rule as King. Now He is at the right hand of God. He prays for us. How are you honoring the King of Kings in your life? Will you share your story with someone who needs hope today?
Beloved, seek the King of Kings.
Father God, thank you for sending your son to be born of a virgin. Thank you that Jesus died on the cross and will return. Most High King of Kings, thank you for praying for us and answering our prayers. You deserve all honor and praise. Forgive me when I am so self-centered that I do not honor you and your kingship in my heart. What a privilege to serve you and place you on the throne of my heart. Thank you for the hope that is within us. In Jesus’s name, amen.
Who is on the throne of your heart?
