God whispers three ways to listen to God.
Do you struggle with listening? I certainly struggle especially if I am invested in something like reading a book, watching a television show, or scrolling mindlessly through Facebook. One of the times, most aggravating is when I am watching a movie and it is the last ten minutes of the show, and my husband decides to tell me something.
One of the classes I participated in at church many years ago, Lord, I am listening. It was the first time exposed to writing my prayers and listening to God.
Three ways to listen to God are by being still in a beautiful place, by opening the Bible and meditating on scripture, and by listening to praise music.
Where can you go to be still in a beautiful place?
What is your favorite book of the Bible?
What kind of music brings you into the presence of God?
Be still and know that I am God. Psalm 46:10a
The woman at the well listens to God. Remember yesterday, she meets Jesus at the well. She asks him questions and her eyes are opened, she asks, why are you seeking a drink from me, and where do you get living water?
“How is it that you, a Jew, ask for a drink from me, a woman of Samaria?” (For Jews have no dealings with Samaritans.) 10 Jesus answered her, “If you knew the gift of God, and who it is that is saying to you, ‘Give me a drink,’ you would have asked him, and he would have given you living water.” 11 The woman said to him, “Sir, you have nothing to draw water with, and the well is deep. Where do you get that living water? John 4: 9-11. ESV.
The woman took her questions to God and she listened.
Will you start today and be still before God? Will you listen? Will you say, Lord, I am listening?
