This week’s list is what makes you feel healthy. I would like to tell you that I love to exercise, and that a walk in the sun makes me feel alive and vibrant and healthy. Once I drag myself out to do the walk, those things do occur but if I can be honest, I am allergic to exercise. Case in point. Once on a health kick, walking twenty minutes on a treadmill, my shoe was untied. I decided to jump off the machine to tie my shoe. One knows how unhealthy it is to walk with your shoe untied! Well the machine hurled me into the next room..well, maybe not that far. Another time as I was walking our German Shepherd, we were tired and he jumped up into the back of the truck with me. I was not prepared and had a shiner that looked like I was Rocky Balboa’s sister!
Weight loss did help me to feel healthy. No one can deny that change. Dr. Nick Yhantides says, “You have to change the way you see before you can change the way you look!” Even if all one does is take ten percent off your body weight it makes a positive influence on your joints, your blood pressure, and your mind.
My time with the Lord helps me to feel healthy. Praying, reading and spending time keeps me feeling healthy and happy. King David in Psalm 32, until he confessed his sin regarding Bathsheba, was drained. He went a year before Nathan helped him to see the errors of his ways. I try and keep a short list of wrongs and a short list of those I need to forgive.
My writing helps more than I can say. Some how letting the Word of God, the Holy Spirit, something I am reading becomes so important that I feel compelled to share. James 5:16 states
” Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.”
“Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind’; and, ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.'” (Luke 10:27)
“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.” (Romans 15:13)
Have you ever praised God through the alphabet? Let’s get started. I praise you Lord, for you are my Advocate.
