Teaching Sunday School to three-year-old, one never knew what the children would say. The memory verse practice for a month usually a shortened version but this verse we did not shorten 1 John 4:19, “We love God because God first loved us.” So when it was time to move to a new verse, guess what verse they said?
Do you suffer from low self-esteem? Do your thoughts condemn you? Beloved, when we recognize who we are in Christ, our self-esteem should not need encouragement. That is why I decided to write about Who I am in Christ statements to really bring the truth to your heart. The truth we’re focusing on is we’re complete in Christ. Complete means having all the necessary or parts or used to define the degree extent. For example, there’s a complete ban on smoking in airplanes. As a verb complete is used to show making something whole or perfect or finish making. I completed my Master’s Degree in Nursing in May, 1999.
Many verses in the bible help define the word complete. In James 1: 3-5 says, “because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance. Allow perseverance to finish its work, so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything. If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him. ” Jesus tells us how love is complete is John 15: 10-12, “If you keep My commandments, you will remain in My love, just as I have kept My Father’s commandments and remain in His love. I have told you these things so that My joy may be in you and your joy may be complete. This is My commandment, that you love one another as I loved you.” Additionally by following his commands 1 John 2: 5, “But if anyone obeys his word, love for God is truly made complete in them. This is how we know we are in him:”
Jesus completed the healing of the blind man. He applied his spit on his eye? Jesus asked him, “Can you see anything now?” in Mark 8:13. The man said he could see the people but not clearly. Then in Mark 8:25, Jesus placed his hands on the man’s eyes again, and his eyes were opened. His sight was completely restored and he could see everything clearly. Jesus touched him and completed the healing process.
Beloved, Psalm 139: 13-14 says, “For You formed my inward parts; You wove me in my mother’s womb. I will give thanks to You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Wonderful are Your works, And my soul knows it very well. ” We are complete in Christ. Romans 5:18 says, “But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” So if you have accepted Christ as your savior, he has forgiven you your sins according to 1 John 1:9, “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.” We do not have to add anything to what Christ has done for us. We are complete in Christ.
What area of your life do you need a fresh touch from Jesus? Weekly, the children come to class eager to learn God’s word, often repeating the old verse. Are you memorizing God’s word, God’s word’s what Jesus quoted when he was tempted by Satan. However, beloved, hear me, you’re complete in Christ if you do not memorize a verse. He loves us completely regardless of what we do all we have to do is believe on the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and we will be saved. John 3:16.
