    Released From His Bondage

Grandma Johnson my maternal Grandma was a big influence in my life. My summers were in her home. I can remember being at her home as a little girl. Grandma had a hard life. She raised a blended family which was her joy and delight. However, her marriage had struggles but she never complained. However when Grandpa Johnson passed away, she made this statement: “I have been released from my bondage, I don’t want no men, no animals, and no flowers to tie me down. From now on I am free to go where I want to go.”

Today, we will study our hero of faith when he is finally released from prison. Joseph sold into slavery by his brothers, they hated him. Then he is minding his own business and refuses to compromise his employer and God by having an affair, and he is convicted of rape. Then he helps the butler and the baker and the baker is killed and the butler forgets his promise to help Joseph.

    Let’s continue with our story.

And it came to pass at the end of two full years, that Pharaoh dreamed: and, behold, he stood by the river. Genesis 41:1.

And it came to pass in the morning that his spirit was troubled; and he sent and called for all the magicians of Egypt, and all the wise men thereof: and Pharaoh told them his dream; but there was none that could interpret them unto Pharaoh. Genesis 41:8.

And there was there with us a young man, an Hebrew, servant to the captain of the guard; and we told him, and he interpreted to us our dreams; to each man according to his dream he did interpret. And it came to pass, as he interpreted to us, so it was; me he restored unto mine office, and him he hanged. Then Pharaoh sent and called Joseph, and they brought him hastily out of the dungeon: and he shaved himself, and changed his raiment, and came in unto Pharaoh. Genesis 41: 12-14.

Beloved, the Pharaoh shares the dreams with Joseph and Joseph listens. We read this in Genesis 41: 15-38. The dreams have to do with the future. Joseph tells the Pharaoh that only God can interpret dreams.

And Joseph answered Pharaoh, saying, It is not in me: God shall give Pharaoh an answer of peace. Genesis 41: 16.

Beloved, do you see what I see in this verse, God shall give the Pharaoh an answer of peace. Do you need peace right now in this crisis?

In the Old Testament dreams were one of the ways God spoke to people. We see this with Jacob when he stops at Bethel. Do you remember your dreams?

Joseph full of integrity reveals a plan. We will discuss this in our next blog.

But for today will you reflect on the God of Peace?

What area is God asking you to trust him?

Peace is in the Bible 420 times. Read with me this verse on peace in the Gospel of John.

These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world. John 16:33.

Jesus overcame the world. This week it is holy week, we are mandated to stay at home, I do not think I will ever take church for granted again. Will you study God’s word with me?

    Resurrection is our salvation.

Grandma lived many years after Grandpa died and she remained foot loose and fancy free.

Father God, you are the resurrection and the light. Your son has overcome the world. Let me be a light for you. Blessings Diana

What are you asking God to overcome?
