My sleep is interrupt several times a night. I know when I wake up I have been dreaming. I’ve a sweet friend Crissy that dreams vivid dreams in color and remembers them. As we started on Joseph’s life, his dreams get him in trouble.
The brothers see him coming and plot to harm him.
And when they saw him afar off, even before he came near unto them, they conspired against him to slay him.
And they said one to another, Behold, this dreamer cometh. Genesis 37: 18-19.
Joseph shares that in his dream his family will bow down before him.
Family
Joseph is hated by his brothers. Perhaps it is because of his pride and the fact that he bragged, his father favored him. Jacob loved Joseph because she was Rachel’s son.
Beloved, have you ever been hated? A few years ago I endured a time when I was hated. I feared for my life. Did I tell you that Joseph was hated?
Read with me how they conspired against Joseph, many wanted to kill him. However, Judah prevented this from happening and Joseph’s life was saved.
And they took him, and cast him into a pit: and the pit was empty, there was no water in it.
And they sat down to eat bread: and they lifted up their eyes and looked, and, behold, a company of Ishmeelites came from Gilead with their camels bearing spicery and balm and myrrh, going to carry it down to Egypt.
And Judah said unto his brethren, What profit is it if we slay our brother, and conceal his blood?
Come, and let us sell him to the Ishmeelites, and let not our hand be upon him; for he is our brother and our flesh. And his brethren were content.
Then there passed by Midianites merchantmen; and they drew and lifted up Joseph out of the pit, and sold Joseph to the Ishmeelites for twenty pieces of silver: and they brought Joseph into Egypt. Genesis 37: 20-28
Egypt
Joseph arrives in Egypt, from favored child to slave. We read his fate in the last verse of Genesis 37: 36 “And the Midianites sold him into Egypt unto Potiphar, an officer of Pharaoh’s, and captain of the guard.”
Joseph decided to turn lemons into lemonade. He prospered in Potiphar’s house. The Lord was with Joseph in Egypt.
Beloved, whatever you do do it well. Read with me this verse in Colossians.
And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men; Colossians 3: 23.
Joseph finds favor read Genesis 39: 3-4.
And his master saw that the Lord was with him, and that the Lord made all that he did to prosper in his hand.
And Joseph found grace in his sight, and he served him: and he made him overseer over his house, and all that he had he put into his hand.
The next drama that occurs is Potiphar’s wife likes Joseph but Joseph as good looking as he is really just wants to do his job. But one day, he is compromised and instead of sinning with Potiphar’s wife, he leaves but he leaves his robe behind.
Potiphar’s wife is upset and calls rape. Joseph is put in prison for something he didn’t do.
Beloved, God provides a way out of temptation. Joseph is a man of integrity.
We will continue his story next blog however, for now let it soak in Joseph goes from being prideful to being a man of integrity.
Have you ever been falsely accused?
How are you serving the Lord?
Father God let us be women of integrity. Let us do whatever we do to the glory of the Lord. In Jesus’ name. Amen
