Ruth 4: 17-22

    Bible Study

    Ruth, Week 4, Day 5

    Introduction

Today concludes the study of Ruth. What a blessing this journey has been. Ruth is an amazing book of redemption and redeeming love. We see God answering Ruth and Naomi’s prayers. Psalm 37: 4 says,

Delight thyself also in the Lord: and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.

He protects Naomi and Ruth on their journey back to where Boaz lived, He allows Ruth to find favor from Boaz, He enables Ruth to marry Boaz, the other kinsman did not want to marry Ruth, He declares Ruth beautiful and fulfills her desires to have a child. This child is the grandfather of King David.

    Ruth, Week 4, Day 5

    Reading and Assignment

    Ruth 4: 17-22, Matthew 1:21, SOAP Ruth 4:17

    Scripture

And the women her neighbours gave it a name, saying, There is a son born to Naomi; and they called his name Obed: he is the father of Jesse, the father of David. Ruth 4:17

    Application

God gives us blessings, children are a blessing. Have you dedicated your children? Do you have a daily quiet time where you pray for your children? Are you trusting God with the desires of your heart?

    Prayer

Father God, thank you for the blessings that I have in my life. Thank you for the sons you gave me and for the grandchildren that you gave me. We know from your word that every good and perfect gift comes from you. When I wanted a granddaughter and only had grandsons, you gave me not one but two granddaughters. Father God, thank you for family and how you enable our family line to continue. Thank you for the lessons in Ruth. You are our kinsman redeemer. You give me peace, a peace that only you can give. Thank you for Jesus our kinsman redeemer. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

    Conclusion

God is so good. He is good all the time. Naomi was in a foreign land with her husband and sons. The sons marry foreign women. God calls the men home and Naomi is left with her daughters-in-law in a foreign land. However, Naomi knows she must return to the promise land. Ruth decided to go with Naomi, Naomi tells her to return to her family but Ruth tells her that she wants to stay with her. Ruth chooses Naomi’s God to be her God. God protects Ruth and Naomi. Naomi gives her solid advice to change her clothes, to go and glean the field, basically, she finds favor in the eyes of the owner of the field, Boaz.

Beloved, daily she gleaned the field. We need to daily go to God in prayer and read the bible. He is faithful to meet us daily and give us the sustenance we need to meet our daily requirements feasting on the word of God.

God answered Naomi and Ruth’s prayers. Boaz became the kinsman redeemer and Jesus is our Kinsman Redeemer. Will, you feast on God’s word and claim Jesus as your Redeemer?

There is a great song, I Know My Redeemer Lives

Enjoy this song, it’s based on Job but as God is my witness, I know my redeemer lives. As I end this series, I hope you have enjoyed seeing God work in the life of Naomi, Ruth, and Boaz. Beloved, He is working in your life too.

Do you know that your Redeemer lives? Will you make Him first?
