    Psalm 119 W1D4

    W1D4

S-  Open my eyes that I may see wonderful things in your law. Through rulers sit together and slander me, your servant will meditate on your decrees. Your statues are my delight; they are my counselors.

O- In order to see we have to open our eyes, we have to have our eyes open to read. We have to have our eyes open to see wonderful things. Law, statues, and decrees are words for God’s word. Meditating or thinking on God’s word prevents us from being sad as God’s word brings delight. God’s word enables us to cope with slander and rulers of the world. God’s word gives wisdom to cope with difficult situations.

A  I need to be willing to see the good in God’s law. I am the only one that can read and apply God’s word. I am the only one who can use God’s word to combat slander or evil people. Will you open your eyes and see that God is good all the time? What do you do when someone is slandering you? How do you show God you delight in His word?

P Father God, the song open the eyes of my heart Lord is running through my mind. Lord I want to see you, to delight in you, to use your word when things are bad and to celebrate when things are good. Help me to hunger and thirst after you and read your word daily. Help me to apply your word and may my enemies be no match for you. Open your word to me and to my sisters in the Lord.

Beloved, this is the memory verse for this week. How do you memorize God’s word? Do you memorize God’s word? If you don’t memorize God’s word will you start by memorizing this verse. I have a FROG in my office. the FROG is cute, and he holds a 3 x 5 index card with verses I am memorizing. The reason I have a FROG is because I am Fully Reliant On God. What is the reason to store God’s word in your heart?

Beloved, what prevents you from reading God’s word? For me, I would like to think I have an excuse as I have a headache most mornings, so some days I have to press on just to make it to work and just like Mandissa’s song Press On, I have to press on put one fun in front of the other.  But then, the reading of God’s timeless word falls to my evening routine and procrastination is my enemy.  Building 429 sings about this enemy in their song, Press On.   [Tweet “The enemy does not want us to read God’s word.”] You see beloved, there is life in God’s word. It is active as a two edge sword. Hebrews 4:12 says,

For the word of God is living, and active, and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing even to the dividing of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and is able to discern the thoughts and intentions of the heart.

Thank you for joining me in this adventure.  On Friday’s it is a time to summarize the verses we have read this week. Summarizing happens may ways, one can pull out the points one wants to remember or the facts, look at the verses and tie them together. I will give a book called Mended Heart to whom ever is brave enough to share the summary or your observation, application and prayer on the above assignment. I will share my summary tomorrow.

    The assignment is: W1D5

Open the eyes of my heart Lord,
Open the eyes of my heart,
I want to see You. I want to see You. (2x)

To see You high and lifted up,
Shining in the light of Your glory.
Pour out Your power and love,
As we sing holy, holy, holy.

Holy, holy holy. Holy, holy, holy.
Holy, holy, holy, I want to see You.
