    Tiny–Tinier–Tiniest–Do You Have Faith of a Mustard Seed?

    Beloved, our word is tiny, which means small. Tiny is not in the Bible, but small is ninety-two times. Tiny-tinier–tiniest; remember when we had to do the verb forms in school. Another word is minuscule.

    According to Google, some common synonyms of tiny are diminutive, little, miniature, minute, and small. While all these words mean “noticeably below average in size,” tiny is an informal equivalent to minute.
     Yet, are you not relieved that we don’t have to have much faith,–the size of a mustard seed?

    Beloved, the faith of a mustard seed, can move mountains, according to this verse in Matthew. However, sometimes our faith is tested. For example, a prolonged illness, profound debt, or a prodigal may challenge your faith.

    David as a Child

    Most have heard that King David is one of eight children. When Samuel came to Jesse’s house looking to anoint the future king, Jesse, his father, brought each of his sons, almost forgetting that he had a son by the name of David.

    Thus Jesse made seven of his sons pass before Samuel. But Samuel said to Jesse, “The Lord has not chosen these.” 11 And Samuel said to Jesse, “Are these all the children?” And he said, “There remains yet the youngest, and behold, he is tending the sheep.” Then Samuel said to Jesse, “Send and [a]bring him; for we will not sit down until he comes here.”

    David Anointed

    12 So he sent and brought him in. Now he was ruddy, with beautiful eyes and a handsome appearance. And the Lord said, “Arise, anoint him; for this is he.” 1 Samuel 16: 10-12

    Beloved, David learned to defend himself as a shepherd boy, so much so that when he goes to check on his brothers, there is the threat of Goliath. So he volunteers to fight Goliath.

    ‘He took his stick in his hand and chose for himself five smooth stones from the brook, and put them in the shepherd’s bag which he had, even in his pouch, and his sling was in his hand; and he approached the Philistine.” 1 Samuel 17:40.

    He might have been small compared to Goliath, but he served a GREAT BIG BEAUTIFUL GOD. He had five smooth stones and a sling. He was equipped.

    He told Saul his time as a shepherd prepared him to fight this battle. Please read the complete story herein

    1 Samuel 17 ends with David killing Goliath.

    POEM

    Faith of the mustard seed

    Increase loyalty and trust in me,

    Chase away any doubt

    Let me slay the giants that I face

    With the confidence that I only need

    Jesus is my Lord and Savior.

    King David’s Psalm

    Psalm 143

    Hear my prayer, O Lord,
    Give ear to my supplications!
    Answer me in Your faithfulness, in Your righteousness!
    And do not enter into judgment with Your servant,
    For in Your sight, no man living is righteous.
    For the enemy has persecuted my soul;
    He has crushed my life to the ground;
    He has made me dwell in dark places, like those who have long been dead.
    Therefore my spirit [a]is overwhelmed within me;
    My heart is [b]appalled within me.

    I remember the days of old;
    I meditate on all Your doings;
    I muse on the work of Your hands.
    I stretch out my hands to You;
    My soul longs for You as a [c]parched land. [d]Selah.

    Answer me quickly, O Lord, my spirit fails;
    Do not hide Your face from me,
    Or I will become like those who go down to the pit.
    Let me hear Your lovingkindness in the morning;
    For I trust in You;
    Teach me how I should walk;
    For to You, I lift my soul.
    Deliver me, O Lord, from my enemies;
    [e]I take refuge in You.

    10 Teach me to do Your will,
    For You are my God;
    Let Your good Spirit lead me on level [f]ground.
    11 For the sake of Your name, O Lord, revive me.
    In Your righteousness, bring my soul out of trouble.
    12 And in Your lovingkindness, [g]cut off my enemies
    And destroy all those who afflict my soul,
    For I am Your servant. NASB

    Prayer

    Father God,

    Create a clean heart, search me, and know if I have any worry or anxiety. Thank you that I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Teach me to do your will, for I trust in you. Hear my prayer, give ear to my supplication, and answer me in your faithfulness as you increase my faith. Cut off, my enemies. They have no right to those I love. In Jesus’s name, amen

    The servant said to Jesus, Help my unbelief; if this is you, I understand. However, a mustard seed is tiny.

    Where do you need your faith increased?
